BLOG 25 - 31ST MAY 2018

For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord......
Jeremiah 29:11

We used this passage on our last blog - 5th August 2016 - as so many people asked us "what next", and we had no idea!
However, we had always planned to come back to Uganda at some time, but on holiday rather than working, and visit the many people we now considered to be our friends.

Since 'finishing' as ServeDirect Project Guardians we have caught up with friends and family,  had one or two holidays and were ready to consider the "what next". It was at this point that Elspeth (ServeDirect) asked us if we were bored yet and might like to consider a 'fill in' term at Lukomera.....and the rest, as they say, is history!

This will be a very brief blog, just to say we have arrived, more will follow when we get our breath!

After a very long journey via Brussels and Kigali we arrived in Entebbe on the 5th May, in the dark. Our first sight the next morning (having stayed overnight in Entebbe) was Lake Victoria.

The journey to Lukomera via Kampala on a 'quiet' Sunday reminded us what a busy place it is, regardless what day of the week it is.

What a wonderful welcome when we arrived at the house - from dear Mohammed, Baptiste and Eva, and an over-the-top welcome from vicious guard dogs, Juno and Tusker!

Since then it's been one long round of " well be back" from so many people.

Many of the students we knew have since left the school, but we have been particularly pleased to see that Ejuku Emmanuel and Akullu Stella are both working at the school. We also had a surprise visit from another ex-student, now at university, Muhanguzi Moses. Much soda drinking and catching up was done!

Term started on Monday and this week is the start of weekly meetings with Charles and the Senior Management team, Activate lessons (Bible based teaching about everyday life) with S5 and S6 (lower and upper sixth forms) and Stan will no doubt be getting the cricket gear and History revision notes out for a new batch of students!

Some photos follow which are pretty self-explanatory, more soon.

Prayer requests -

For Stan's mum to keep well. We had a scare a couple of days ago as she fell out of bed and a broken femur was suspected. Fortunately it wasn't, and she is back to her old self - thank the Lord.

For safety for the students as they start to slowly trickle back. Some of the boarders have very long journeys to get here and it can be a very dangerous time for them.

That the lessons we have prepared for Activate will be helpful and welcomed.

That any issues we may have to get involved with are dealt with sensitively, with wisdom and kindness.

With love and blessings
